A novel method of preparation of 5-[5-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]-2-(4-pyridinyl)-1H-benzimidazole by using the Schiff's base of diamine derivatives with (diacetoxy) iodobenzene as oxidant was reported. The operation was readily preformed in one-pot with good yields under very mild conditions. All the products were characterized by 1H NMR, FT-IR and microanalysis.
