摘要
张凌汉是民国年间一位不知名的学人,受桐城派的影响,学术研究重义法,著有《经传文法之研究》。此书探讨《诗经》《尚书》《论语》《孟子》《左传》及《庄子》六部典籍的文法,意图从其中发现太平大同之道,为社会发展寻找出路。因为文法是理解道的通途,故此书系统而又概括地总结经传之文法,并逐一解析各种格法的意蕴,为文法争得合法地位。同时,在文言与白话之争的时代,他强调文法是文言之作的优势,是文言与白话区分的标准。张氏在特殊的时代专注于经传文法研究,不仅推进了儒家经典文学化的进程,也为古典文学与文化走出低潮期蓄力。
Zhang Linghan was a lesser-known scholar during the Republic of China period.Influenced by the Tongcheng School,his academic work emphasized principles and methods,culminating in his book A Study of the Grammatical Patterns in Classical Texts.This work examines the grammatical patterns of six classicsThe Book of Songs,The Book of Documents,The Analects,The Mencius,The Zuo Commentary,and The Zhuangzi—with the aim of uncovering the path to Great Unity and Universal Peace,thereby seeking a way forward for social development.Since grammatical patterns were regarded as the pathway to understanding the Dao(Way),the book systematically and concisely summarizes the grammatical structures of these classical texts and analyzes the implications of various rhetorical methods,striving to legitimize the study of grammar.Moreover,amid the debate between classical and vernacular Chinese,Zhang emphasized that grammatical patterns were the strength of classical writing and served as the criterion for distinguishing classical from vernacular Chinese.Focusing on the study of grammatical patterns in classical texts during a unique historical period,Zhang not only advanced the literary interpretation of Confucian classics but also contributed to revitalizing classical literature and culture during a time of decline.
