摘要
“文白之争”不仅是语言形式的嬗变,也与文化重建、知识传播、教育革新、权力运作等有着复杂的纠葛。透过清末民国语文教育变革中文言与白话间优劣、存废、进退、名实之争,我们可以感受到争论双方在赓续文化血脉、思虑文化勃兴中的教育智慧和家国情怀。但是文言与白话互有优劣、互生影响,“文白之争”实际上是一场没有胜负的文化博弈。我们要跳出非黑即白的二元对立模式,在两者间寻找调适融通的机制,在动态平衡中保持适度张力,这不仅是文化勃兴之策,也是语文教育变革之道。
“Debate between Classical Chinese and Vernacular Chinese”is not only the evolution of language forms,but also complicated with cultural reconstruction,knowledge dissemination,educational innovation and power operation.We can feel the educational wisdom and national feelings of the two sides in the debate over the merits,abolition,advance and retreat,name and reality of Chinese and vernacular in the reform of Chinese education in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.However,classical Chinese and vernacular have their own advantages and disadvantages and influence each other.In fact,the debate between them is a cultural game without victory or defeat.We should jump out of the binary opposition mode of neither black nor white,and find a mechanism to adjust between them,so as to maintain appropriate tension in the dynamic balance.This is not only a strategy for cultural prosperity,but also a way for the reform of Chinese education.
