When the power of capital alienates architecture into a symbol of conspicuous consumption,and when the globalized design language erases the uniqueness of regional cultures,there is a firm in the London architectural scene that has been playing a discordant note for two decades.The works of Alison Brooks Architects(ABA)constitute a subtle resistance to the commercialization of contemporary architecture.They have performed a unique dance within the folds of capital-neither completely rejecting the rules of the game of commercial logic,nor implanting a subversive spatial poetics in each project.This"poetics of resistance"is achieved not through radical declarations,but through the precise arrangement of bricks,stones,wood,and light.
