In his debut novel Miracle at St.Anna, contemporary African American author James McBride explores the intricate relationships between individual biopolitical dilemmas, interpersonal emotions, and the construction of a shared destiny through the lens of extraordinary life circumstances.Set in the Serchio Valley of Italy during World War Ⅱ,the novel vividly portrays the biopolitical struggles faced by the villagers and attempts to resolve these challenges through the realization of individual potential and the creation of a collective destiny.McBride emphasizes how individual biopolitical predicaments foster a heightened awareness of communal solidarity, while the emotional bonds formed during the process of mutual healing exhibit profound cohesion and transformative power. The envisioned community in the novel is imbued with a strong idealistic ethos, characterized by messianic undertones, reflecting a deep and aspirational contemplation of the concept of community.
