To coincide with the UN InternationalYear of Planet Earth(2007-2009),three Earthscience teachers from the UK have compileda website with a vast,varied and stillexpanding collection of teaching activities.The simple activities require fewresources(but can be readily adapted for usewith standard school lab equipment)and aredesigned to encourage students aged 8-18years to investigate how the Earth works(therecommended age range is given in eachactivity).You can discuss the idea withother interested people across the globe onthe associated blog,www.earthlearningidea.blogspot.com Each activity is accompaniedby‘back-up’notes for teachers.The activitiesare also being translated into Spanish,Norwegian,Italian,Chinese and Tamil.
