摘要
美籍华裔学者刘若愚在其英文著作《中国诗学》中提出了“诗歌是对境界与语言的双重探索”的中国诗学观。基于知识翻译学,以1969年刘若愚在《李商隐的诗——中国9世纪的巴洛克诗人》中的汉诗英译为主要研究对象,可探究刘若愚如何通过自身翻译实践践行其中国诗学观,从而推动中国诗学知识走向世界。研究发现,刘若愚分别采用了异化翻译、语法补偿、学术性翻译与构建多元译文四种翻译策略来实践其中国诗学观,在尊重中英语言差异的基础上,保留了汉诗的异质性,向西方读者展示了中国诗学中的语言与境界等知识,实现了“以真求知”“以善立义”“以美行文”,从而促进了中国诗学知识的世界性转化。
In his English work The Art of Chinese Poetry,James J.Y.Liu,diasporic scholar of Chinese origin,put forward his view of Chinese poetics—“poetry as exploration of worlds and of language”.Based on transknowletology,and taking Liu’s English translation of Chinese poetries in The Poetry of Li Shangyin:Ninth-Century Baroque Chinese Poet(1969)as the main research object,how Liu fulfilled his Chinese poetics and promoted the knowledge of Chinese poetics to the world through his translation practice could be explored.The findings reveal that Liu adopted four translation strategies,namely foreignization,grammatical restitution,academic translation and multi-translation strategies to fulfill his view of Chinese poetics,preserving the heterogeneity of Chinese poetry on the basis of respecting the differences between Chinese and English,showing western readers the Chinese poetics knowledge of language,worlds and so on.Liu’s translation of Li Shangyin’s poetries succeeds in the three transknowletology principles of real meanings,full preparation and appropriate expressions based on target-text aesthetic conceptions,which promotes the cosmopolitanization of the knowledge of Chinese poetics.
