4MAT Learning Model:Cognitive Progression Strategies for Whole-Book Reading in Primary Chinese--A case study of the whole-book reading of Ancient Chinese Mythology

摘要 整本书阅读是促进学生思维发展的有效途径。当前教师在指导整本书阅读的过程中往往缺乏有效的问题设计来培养学生的高阶思维。麦卡锡的4MAT学习模式中,“是何”“为何”“如何”“若何”四类问题分别对应不同思维层级,能助力学生在整本书阅读过程中实现思维从低阶到高阶发展。教师可运用以“四何”问题设计为导向的阅读教学策略,在导读课激发阅读兴趣,在推进课挖掘阅读深度,在展示课实现检测评价,从而促进学生高阶思维的发展。 Whole-book reading serves as an effective approach to promote students'cognitive development.However,current teaching practices often lack targeted question design to cultivate higher-order thinking during this process.McCarthy's 4MAT learning model,with its four-question framework("What,""Why,""How,"and"What If"),corresponds to distinct cognitive levels and facilitates students'progression from lower-to higher-order thinking in whole-book reading.Teachers should adopt a reading instruction strategy guided by these four question types:stimulating interest in introductory lessons,deepening comprehension in progressive lessons,and implementing evaluation in showcase lessons,thereby fostering students'advanced cognitive growth.
