An Exploration of Responses to Generative AI by UCSD Library

摘要 生成式AI技术的迅速发展为高等教育带来了机遇与挑战,高校图书馆需要适应这一形势并做出反应。文章以美国加州大学圣地亚哥分校(UCSD)图书馆为例,通过一对一访谈、焦点小组访谈和文献调研,探究其应对生成式AI策略背后的情境,从资源、人员、用户和技术等方面揭示UCSD图书馆积极参与学校AI战略的变革动因。在此基础上,归纳UCSD图书馆明确“桥梁”角色、以LibGuides为抓手、系统深化AI+服务、锤炼具备AI技能的学习型团队、合作共赢探索AI服务等应对生成式AI的具体措施。文章从理性思考定位、逐步深化服务、客观看待技术变革、重视馆员AI素养等方面对我国高校图书馆提出建议。 The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence(AI)technology has created new opportunities and challenges for higher education,and uviversity libraries need to adapt and respond to this situation.Using the Library of the University of California,San Diego(UCSD)as an example,this article explores the library’s strategies for dealing with generative AI,and identifies its drivers for change from the perspectives of resources,staff,users,and technology,through individual interviews,focus group interviews and a literature review.The study summarizes UCSD Library’s specific responses to generative AI,such as carlifying its role as a bridge,using LibGuides as a tool,systematically deepening AI+services,training a learning team with AI skills,and exploring AI services in a win-win cooperation.The article suggests that university libraries should be rationally position themselves in the AI strategy,gradually deepen AI-related services,objectively evaluate the technological changes and attach great importance to librarians’AI literacy.
