Growing up amidst the tumultuous backdrop of two world wars and the intricate dynamics between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War,Anthony Burgess exhibits a remarkable and contagious sense of historical purpose in A Clockwork Orange.He also delves into his own haunting recollections,as well as evoking a profound awakening among young students and teachers at that time.Through the experiment of language games,the novel narrates the chaotic,insane,absurdity and extreme violence of the protagonist Alex's growing up,reveals deficiency of schooling,disintegration of family community and declining authority of state institutions in the early 1960s.It also highlights the author's hope for the future of adult children,which inspires readers to think about the current education and family ethics of adolescents.
