To investigate the changes in volatile oil composition between different ratios of Notopterygium incisum-Angelicae pubescentis drug pairs and single drug,salt-assisted water vapor distillation was employed to extract the volatile oils and the volatile components were analyzed using GC-MS.Differences in volatile substance compositions were then evaluated using stoichiometry, and antioxidant experiments were performed. The findings demonstrated that 79 volatile substances in total were detected by GC-MS,and50 volatile substances and 7 novel compounds found when the Notopterygium incisum-Angelicae pubescentis drug pair ratio was 2:1.Compounds such as m-cresol,(1R)-(+)-α-pinene,(R)-(+)-limonene,β-pinene,and(1S)-(-)-β-pinene had a significant role in determining volatile component variations between groups.Notopterygium incisum,Angelicae pubescentis, and three different dosing pairs exhibited superior free radical scavenging activity. In conclusion, the study found the most volatile substances in the 2:1 Notopterygium incisum-Angelicae pubescentis drug pairs,as well as the four essential compounds that caused changes in the ratios of the different pairings, which may be used as a reference for scientific compounding of Notopterygium incisum-Angelicae pubescentis drug pairs.
