摘要
敦煌莫高窟第285窟主室南壁中层东端故事画以往被定名为宾头卢度跋提长者姊、度恶牛缘故事画。通过将此故事画与相关经文的对照分析,可以判断其应是沙弥守戒自杀故事画的第一部分。东端起首画面的重新辨识,有助于判断沙弥守戒自杀故事画的画面情节和图像叙事顺序,并凸显出此图对前代故事画的继承、创新之处。故事画依南壁小禅窟而绘的构图特征,进一步强化了其宣讲戒律、警示教诫之功能。
The story painting on the middle layer of the south wall of the main chamber of Cave 285,in the Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang,previously described as the story of the Salvation of the Sister of the Elder Bhaddiya by Pindola,and the Salvation of the Evil Cow,can now be identified as the first part of the story painting of the Samanera Committing Suicide Through Abstinence,thanks to comparative analysis with relevant scriptures.The reinterpretation of the initial scene on the cave's east end helps to determine the plot and narrative sequence of this story painting,highlighting the inheritance and innovation of this painting compared to previous generations.The compositional characteristics of the work,which follows the measurements of the small meditation niche located in the south wall,further enhance the picture's teaching and warning functions.
