摘要
近年来,在中国年轻一代中兴起一阵文物热潮,不管是网上盛行的文物表情包,还是博物馆成为旅游必打卡点的现象,都表现出中国年轻人对探索中国古文化的浓厚兴趣以及建立文化自信的渴望。文章通过探究中国陶角的命名缘由及文化特征,对比美国大都会博物馆和上海博物馆中的陶角展品英文名称,从关联理论的视角,分析并总结适合陶佣展品名称的英译策略。
The younger generation in China has recently developed a passion for cultural treasures.The popularity of emoticons depicting cultural artifacts on the Internet or the trend of museums becoming into famous tourist destinations all demonstrate that young Chinese people are very interested in learning about ancient Chinese culture and want to build cultural confidence.This paper discusses the features of Chinese pottery exhibits,compares the English names of pottery figurine exhibits in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Shanghai Museum,and summarizes English translation techniques for the naming of pottery figurine exhibits from the standpoint of relevance theory.
