Using the neural markers of interpersonal interaction, here we explore the similarities and differences of interpersonal neural synchronization(INS)mechanisms be-tween the two interactive modes in Chinese Second Language online teaching, synchronous interactive mode and asynchronous interactive mode.In addition,we also discuss the causes of the differences of brain synchronization mechanisms by video analysis. Results reveal that there exist differences in spatial distribution and time course of INS between the two interac-tive modes.Specifically, there is a significant positive correlation between the learning effect and brain synchronization of teacher's right inferior frontal gyrus and student's left inferior frontal gyrus under the synchronous interactive mode.Crucially, compared with the asyn-chronous interactive mode, the brain synchronization is more widely distributed in space and increases faster at the beginning of teaching in time under the synchronous interactive mode. Finally,we find that the reasons for the differences of brain synchronization mechanism are related to verbal information such as questions and turn-takings,cognitive factors such as at-tention and information integration caused by behavioral information like facial expressions, body or eye action, and emotional factors such as intimacy and the sense of achievement.Based on these findings,we provide suggestions for the design and evaluation of online inter-active teaching.
