Recently, the problem of air pollution is worsening along with the process of industrialization.Researches from home and abroad have shown that air pollution, especially fine particles(fine particulate matter,PM2.5),is closely associated with the development of diseases, and has adverse effects on respiratory system, cardiovascular system, central nervous system and reproductive system. Studies have shown that the mechanism of diseases caused by PM2.5 is mainly including cell oxidative stress and inflammatory response induced by particulate matter,disease-related gene polymorphism and DNA methylation, mediating the regulation of related gene expression and inducing the change of signal pathways. In this review, the components, sources, and the pathogenic mechanism of PM2.5 are summarized.
