摘要
个案研究方法作为社会科学领域最常见的研究方法之一,近年来在我国外语教育研究领域已得到广泛应用,但甚少有研究对个案研究方法的使用情况进行回顾与评述。本文采用定量内容分析法,对比分析近20年(1998—2018)发表于我国核心期刊外语教育类个案研究论文的方法论,并从研究设计、数据收集、数据分析及结果呈现四个方面及其属下的10个分标准对这些论文进行评述。结果发现,大部分论文能明确提出研究问题、清晰界定个案单元并采用多种数据来源,但也还存在数据收集和分析过程报告不够详尽以及研究结果缺少理论建构等问题。文末笔者呈现了个案研究方法的使用标准及写作规范的流程图供读者参考,并对其使用提出了建议与展望。
As one of the most common research methodologies in social sciences,case study has been widely utilized in foreign language education research in China.However,there is paucity of research on reviewing the utilization of this methodology.To address this gap,by deploying a qualitative content analysis,this paper reviewed case studies published in Chinese key journals from 1998 to 2018.We particularly evaluated the quality of their methodology in terms of research design,data collection,data analysis and manifestation of findings along with 10 sub-standards.It is found that although most papers have proposed clear research questions,defined units of analysis,and used multiple data sources,some papers need improvement in the transparency of data collection and analysis and theoretical contribution.This paper concludes with a procedural chart which demonstrates a clear flow of conducting case study research,based on which suggestions for future research using the case study approach are provided.
