摘要
近年来,定量研究在公共管理学科的研究中得到了越来越广泛的应用,但随之而来的问题是定量研究被滥用的现象也层出不穷,使得公共管理学科的实证研究在发展上偏离了实证研究本质。本文以《公共管理学报》创刊十五年来的定量研究文章为研究对象,对其进行统计描述和问题聚类。研究发现:《公共管理学报》十五年来的定量研究文章中,存在问题的研究主要有三大类:第一类是研究选题的平庸,主要表现为用复杂方法验证常识、研究所得结论域大于问题域;第二类是研究方法的平庸,主要表现为代理变量不匹配、R2过小或被抹去、轻率设定因果关系和控制变量、数据来源缺乏信度、样本选取不符合科学抽样原理;第三类是研究预设的平庸,即假设过于理想化,脱离现实。要解决定量研究在公共管理学科中的滥用问题,就要针对这三大平庸问题,让定量研究方法回归实证研究的本质。
Quantitative research has been more and more popular in public administration research,however,the phenomenon of misuse of quantitative methods followed,making empirical research of public administration deviated from the original nature of empirical research itself.Using statistic and cluster method,we analyzed quantitative research articles published in Journal of Public Management for 15 years.Evidence shows there are three main types of existing problems.Firstly,the mediocrity of research topics:(i)Using complex methods to verify common sense;(ii)Conclusion domain of research may larger than the problem domain.Secondly,the mediocrity of the research methods:(i)Misplacing of proxy variables;(ii)Even using too small R2 or no mention of R2;(iii)The reckless setting of causality and control variables;(iv)The lack of reliability of data sources;(v)The non-compliance of sample selection with scientific sampling principles.Thirdly,the mediocrity of hypothesis,that is,some hypotheses are too idealized to conform to the reality.Aiming to return quantitative research to the nature of empirical research methods,researchers in the area of public administration need to solve the three types of mediocrities and thus,preventing from the misuse of quantitative methods.
