Hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) is caused by a variety of factors resulting in regional cerebral blood circulation disorders and consequent brain tissue softening and necrosis. Neurons are extremely sensitive to ischemic and anoxic conditions, which can cause neuronal and synaptic damage in the brain within a short period of time after brain injury, and seriously affect the transmission of information in the central nervous system. Some progress has been made in the study of synaptic damage and its regeneration. This article reviews the mechanisms underlying ischemic hypoxic brain synaptic injury and its regeneration.
