On the basis of in 一 depth study of Song Dynasty calligraphy , this paper analyses the relationship between the development of Zen thought in Song Dynasty and the formation of Imagery Calligraphic , and puts forward that Zen thought promoted the awakening of self - consciousness of literati and doctors in Song Dynasty , and that Imagery Calligraphic was bred under the spirit of Zen philosophy. Through the study and dissemination among monks , the spiritual connotation of calligraphy in the Song Dynasty was also accepted and studied by Japanese calligraphers in Kamakura Age, which resulted in the formation of "ink marks" and subsequent " Wushan Style". Through the collection and comparative study of documents and materials, this paper makes a detailed discussion on the replacement of Japanese "harmony" calligraphy by Zen calligraphy style from four aspects : national awakening, ruling class, monk status and the homology of calligraphy and painting. At the same time , the Japanese culture that accepts the infiltration of Chinese culture has also had a negative impact on Chinese calligraphy and culture , which has a particularly important enlightenment for understanding the relationship between Chinese and Japanese culture.
