Ion chromatographic separation and determination of total chloride and sodium lactate contained in compound sodium lactate injection were studied. Waters ILC-1 Ion/Liquid Chromatograph, 50×4.6 mm i. d. stainless steel IC-PAK A column, the solution of 1 mmol/L phthalic acid (pH 4.0) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min, and model 430 conductivity detector with 2. 5 μSFS were used. Good results could be obtained by using external standard single-point calibration method. The average recoveries of chloride and sodium lactate were 98.46% and 101.1%, and the correlation coefficients were 0.9995 (n=12) and 0.9956 (n=12) respectively.
