“０２４２８选”系广亲和系０２４２８群体中的一个变异株，花时比０２４２８早１—１．５小时，且开花集中，花粉量充足，抽穗期比０２４２８迟８—９天，其它生物学特性也异于后者。测交鉴定表明，“０２４２８选”与不同来源和不同类型的籼、粳品种（系）和光敏核不育系杂交，不仅具有良好的广亲和性，而且有明显的杂种优势；对ＢＴ型不育系还有一定的恢复能力。在籼粳亚种间杂种优势利用中，具有潜在的育种价值。
“02428 Xuan” was a japonica rice selection from wide compatibility strain 02428. It was characterized by early and concentrative blooming habit, and abundant pollen grains, which was especially advantageous to the synchronization of the blooming time in hybrid seed production between indica and japonica. In comparison with 02428, “02428 Xuan” headed 8- 9 days later, and was about 5 cm higher, it also had bloader leaves, larger panicles but smaller size of grains. There existed apparent purple mark on its apiculus. It was identified through testcrosses and the results showed that “02428 Xuan” had wide compatibility as the same as 02428 and exhibited obvious heterosis in FI hybrids when crossed with indica or japonica testers. The potential breeding value of “02428 Xuan” in use of heterosis between indica and japonica was discussed.
