The theory of multi agent system is the basis of intelligent manufacturing. Firstly, the recognition of agent model is generalized in the paper. Then according to the characteristics of intelligent manufacturing system, constraints of modeling are discussed. As an example, the steps for building a simulation model of flexible manufacturing system (FMS) are presented. Finally, the key problems in the research are pointed out.
