希腊罗马神话对西方文化产生了深远的影响 ,对英语的影响更是不容忽视。语言和文化是不能分开的。英语学习者不能单学习语言本身 ,还必须学习它所承载的文化。英语中有很多典故成语来自希腊罗马神话。搜集整理了来自希腊罗马神话的典故成语 ,并举例详细说明了一些成语的出处及其用法。
Greek and Roman Mythology has had profound and vast influence upon the western culture. Its influence on the English language and literature is especially great. English possesses numerous allusive idioms from Greek and Roman mythology. In the article many allusive idioms from Greek and Roman mythology are collected and stories behind some of the idioms are told with example sentences to illustrate the idioms' usage so as to prove the importance of Greek and Roman mythology to English learners.
