The authors determined the antibacterial activity of ceftriaxone sodium and tazobactam sodium(3 to 1 and 5 to 1)in mice's body by using minor modified karbers's method. The results showed that in mice's body infected by zymogenic Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli ,the ED 50 values of ceftriaxone sodium and tazobactam sodium(3 to 1 and 5 to 1) resisting these bacteria were 4.0 mg·kg -1 ,4.3 mg·kg -1 and 0.005 6 mg·kg -1 ,0.006 8 mg·kg -1 ,respectively;the ED 50 values of ceftriaxone sodium and sulbactam sodium(2 to 1) 6.6 mg·kg -1 and 0.011 47 mg·kg -1 ,respectively; and the ED 50 values of a single composed compound of ceftriaxone sodium 10.3 mg·kg -1 ,0.064 9 mg·kg -1 .Meanwhile, the results also showed that in mice's body infected by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the ED 50 values of ceftriaxone sodium and tazobactam sodium resisting the bacteria were 8.2 mg·kg -1 and 11.2 mg·kg -1 ,respectively; the ED 50 value of ceftriaxone sodium and tazobactam sodium 16.1 mg·kg -1 ;and the ED 50 value of a single composed compound of ceftriaxone sodium 35.4 mg·kg -1 .Thus,a conclusion was drawn that ceftriaxone sodium and tazobactam sodium had an obviously antibacterial activity on the mice infected by zymogenic Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli ,and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and that it was obviously superior to the ceftriaxone sodium(single composed compound) and the ceftriaxone sodium and sulbactam sodium.
