邓小平在新时期对党的思想路线作出了巨大的理论贡献：一、突出了实事求是在马克思主义和毛泽东思想中的地位，提出了“实事求是是马克思主义和毛泽东思想的精髓”的观点；二、深刻地揭示了解放思想与实事求是之间的辩证关系，把党的思想路线推进到了一个新的高度；三、拓展和深化了党的思想路线的内容，使党的思想具备了规范化的理论形态。
In the new age Deng Xiaoping had made such great contributions to the Party's ideological line as the following. Firstly, he had stressed the status of seeking truth from facts in Marxism and Mao Zedong Thought and put forward the idea that seeking truth from facts is the quintessence of Marxism and Mao Zedong Thought. Secondly, he had brought to light the dialetical relations between emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts so carried the Party's ideological line to a new stage. Thirdly, he had widened and deepened the content of the Party's ideological line and made it have standardized theoretical form.
