摘要
概述了大气污染对森林昆虫种群时空动态的影响以及可能的作用机制,指明了今后的研究方向。目前我国大气污染严重,应重视和加强大气污染对森林昆虫种群动态影响的研究。
A number of studies have found evidence to suggest that an increase in the level of air pollution, including acidic precipition, could be related closely to changes in the patterns of insect attack on forest trees. The present article reviews current knowledge on the effects of air polluted environments on forest insect populations and the underlying mechanisms involved. Many field observation carried out along pollution gradients have found a general trend for increases in the density of forest insects, particularly sapfeeders such as aphids,in zones with high and/or intermediate levels of pollution, although the response differ among insect species.Experimental studies have revealed that increased growth and reprodution in forest insect populations on plants prefumigated with gaseous pollutants such as SO 2,O 3 and oxides of nitrogen, are probably attributable to changes in the nutritional value and the level of secondary metabolities as allochemicals in the plants. Most of the results of recent studies using either approach have strongly suggested that air pollution has a dual effect of increasing the palatability of the plants to insects and reducing parasitism and predation, which may partly account for the causal mechanisms of outbreaks of phytophagous insects in forests.Due to serious polltution of sour rain in China, importance should be attached to the research on the influence of air pollution on the dynamic population of forest insects.
