Apple ester B was synthesized by reaction of ethyl acetyl acetate and 1,2 propanediol,and SnCl 4·5H 2 O as catatlyst. The optimum condition was found out as follows: the ratio of ethyl acetyl acetate to 1,2 propanediol to SnCl 4·5H 2 O was 1mol to 1.2 mol to 0.015 mol. The reaction time is about 0.5h.
