In the past 4 yeas.123 patients were und erwent mechanical valve replacements in our hospital, There are 5 cases of late stage infective endocarditia.The incidence is 4.07%.The patients underwent mechanical valve and multi-valve replacements,and middle or old age patients are liable to the disease.The major causative agent is staphylococcus and fungi.Echocardiography examination is simple and effective with high rate of diagnsis.It is helpful to estimate prognosis and instruct treatment. Intraeranial hemorrhage is one of main causes of the death.Treatment is divided into medicine therapy and reoperation. The latter is helpful to improving patients living condition and reducing the rate of death.
