摘要
本文从纯语言的角度出发,在功能语法人际意义的理论框架下,通过对《呼啸山庄》中主人公凯瑟琳和希斯克利夫的一段对话中话语情态的选择和分析,揭示其语言如何通过情态表达情感意义和人物角色的关系,为更好地剖析和理解小说中人物的心理,探讨其角色关系提供了一个新的视角,也为系统功能语法中利用人际功能探讨语篇主题意义提供了佐证。
With interpersonal function of Systematic Functional Grammar as its theoretical framework and Wuthering Heights as its research text, the paper makes a detailed analysis of modality in the dialogue between Catherine and Heathcliff by statistics and illustration, and finds that modality has directly or indirectly helped to construct an interpersonal relationship that plays a significant role in exploring the literary works. And the paper also proves the positive role interpersonal function plays in analyzing the discourse thesis.
