摘要
在中西文化大融合背景下,探讨汉语文学作品标题英译意义重大。《古文小品译英》的标题翻译,林语堂先生应用了直译、意译、另拟标题、一题双译、增译法和省略译法等方法。从文化传递的角度分析,容易造成文化内涵缺失的翻译方法有意译法、另拟标题和省略译法,能最大限度地保留源题文化特色的翻译方法是直译法、一题双译和增译法。林译《古文小品译英》为汉语文学作品标题英译提供了很好的借鉴。
Under the background of cultural fusion of the West and China, it is significant to explore the translation of Chinese literary titles. In the process of translating the literary titles in The Importance of Understanding, Lin Yutang adopted flexible methods such as literal translation, free translation, adaptation, double-barreled translation, addition and omission. From the perspective of cultural transmission, the employment of free translation, adaptation and omission may cause the loss of specific cultural information, while the application of literal translation, double-barreled translation and addition can preserve the most of the original culture. The Importance of Understanding provides a good example of translating Chinese literary titles.
