The static contact angle is decreased upon water immersion when the polymer films are treated by CF 4/CH 4 plasmas. This indicates the existence of the rotational and diffusional migration of the introduced chemical moieties containing fluorine atom from the surface into the bulk of the film. At the beginning of water immersion, lg θ is in inverse proportion to the lg t or t . The surface decay rate constant can be calculated based on the line's slope. The rate constant is fond to increase with increasing value of mass fraction of CF 4 in CF 4/CH 4 feed gas.
