摘要
英语缩略词是英语新词的主要来源之一,地位十分重要。由于对英语缩略词的定义、分类及其结构特征认识不清,往往带来很多争论,使得这类词语的汉译也带来了很大的影响。文章从历时和共时的角度探讨英语缩略词的定义、分类,围绕英汉语缩略词的结构差异,提出了准确、通俗易懂和遵循惯译的翻译标准,并探讨了缩略词和汉语字母词的关系,建立了相应的翻译步骤和翻译方法。
English Abbreviations, as a major source of English English. However, wrong ideas of the definition, classification and neologisms, occupy an important position in structural characteristics of English abbrevi- ations often causes a series of disputes, which has side effect on their translating into Chinese. This paper dis- cusses the relation between English abbreviations and Chinese letter words and establishes the corresponding steps and methods in translating. We argue that, to translate English abbreviations into Chinese well, we should build the appropriate translation criteria and methods based on the differences between English and Chinese abbreviations structures and types, and that E Chinese letter words, and only through translation can nglish abbreviations are related to but not the same as English abbreviations integrate into the Chinese lan-guage.
