Work on energy absorbing characteristics of a thin wall inverted tube which may be obtained by axially compressing the tube over a radiused die has discussed the phenomena associated with the inversion process of tubes and has shown that the optimum radial expansion and conditions can keep away from buckling and tearing combined with simple theoretical analysis of the process.
