Objective To compare the clinical effects between cold gutta-percha lateral condensation and heat guttapercha vertical condensation for acute pulpitis treatment. Methods 92 cases of patients with acute pulpitis in the Stomatology Department of Zhenjiang the Fourth People's Hospital form April 2010 to April 2012 were selected as research objects. Patients were clinically diagnosed, according to the different treatment methods, all patients were divided into the observation group and the control group, each group had 46 cases. Patients in the observation group were treated with heat gutta-percha vertical condensation, while patients in the control group were treated with cold guttapercha lateral condensation. The therapeutic effects, filling time, postoperative pain scores between the two groups were compared. Results After treatment the clinical curative effect in the observation group (97.83%) was significantly superior to the control group (86.96%)(P 〈 0.05 ); the filling time in the observation group [(68.82±12.48)s] was significantly shorter than that in the control group [(148.23±36.53)s] (P 〈 0.05); after treatment the pain score of patients in the observation group [(2.31±1.51) point] was significantly lower than that in the control group [(5.21±1.21) point] (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion Heat gutta-percha vertical condensation technique can effectively improve the clinical treatment effect of acute pulpitis, shorten the filling time, reduce postoperative pain of patients.
