To improve the study efficiency and reduce the training time,a new method based on radial basis function network RBFN to perform the neural network based distance protection is put forward. Compared with the one based on BP network,this method spends less training time.The test results show that the neural network based distance protection based on RBFN is feasible and efficient and has the good performance of pattern recognition.
