ESP research after 50 years:Trends and directions——A review of New Directions in English for Specific Purposes Research

摘要本文简要评述了专门用途英语(ESP)领域的一部新近力作——《专门用途英语研究新方向》。该书探讨了ESP重点研究话题与新兴研究方法,具有观点新颖、结构明晰、理论与实践相结合的特点,有助于读者深入了解ESP研究的发展现状与趋势,进一步推动实证研究开展。 This paper presents a brief review of New Directions in English for Specific Purposes Research, which is a welcome addition to the existing literature on studies in English for Specific Purposes （ESP）. Providing an up-to-date ESP picture of the major research issues under way and the methodologies currently adopted, this edited volume fea- tures stimulating content, clarity of structure and a variety of links among theory, research and pedagogical practice. The volume in particular serves as an important ESP resource book for readers to generate their own research on topics covered in it and beyond.
