摘要
社会服务是现代大学的一项核心使命,美国大学自建立之初就特别强调这一使命。美国大学现代意义上的社会服务使命起源于20世纪60年代,确立于20世纪初,经历了萌芽、发展和强化三个阶段。美国大学社会服务使命的实现途径包括面向社会开放设施、面向社会传授知识、学生社会参与、教师社会参与、振兴经济与推动企业发展,以及建立公共关系六个维度,对我国有着重要的借鉴意义和参考价值。
Social service was a core mission of the modern university,which was stressed since the American universities were founded.However,the mission of social service in the modern meaning was originated in the 1960s,and formed at the beginning of the 20th century,which experienced germination stage,developing stage and reinforcement stage.There＇re six alternatives to accomplish the mission,such as public access to facilities,public access to knowledge,student engagement,faculty engagement,encouraging economic regeneration and enterprise in social engagement,and public relations building.It was expected that the American way would lead an example for universities in China.
