Chronic pain is a perseverative disease accompanied with sev6ral negative emotions, such as scare and anxiety, after extinction of the noxious stimulation, which decreases significantly the quality of patients' lives. Synaptic plasticity in the CNS has been the research hotpot in recent years, though the mechanisms of chronic pain are complex. There are two fundamental forms of synaptic plasticity, plasticity of glutamatergic synapse and dentritic spine remodeling, in the levels of spinal cord and brain. The advances in the studies of the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in the chronic pain are reviewed to provide broader perspectives for the basal and clinic studies involved in pain.
