To explore the significance of blood hemorheological parameters in reflecting the biological behaviors of gastric cancer. Methods the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity ( p). aggregation index of red cell (η rel) and red cell rigidity of 100 patients with gastric cancer and 20 Persons without disease were detected. The results of the two troups were compared. Results (1 ) Hrperviscosity was often observed in patients with gastric cancer, which demonstrated the increase of plasma viscosity, aggregation index of red cell and red cell rigidity. The more the infiltrative depth, the more significant the difference between every parameter. (2) The aggregation index of red cell of local and massive growth type was greatly higher than that of infiltrative type and nest, diffuse type. The red cell rigidity was significantly higher in progressivve stage than in early stage or in the control. p were seen remark- ably higher in seriously involved stage than in no involved one. Conclusions Hyperviscosity often occurs in patients with gastric cancer. The Changes of blood hemorheological parameters are significant to the growth, infiltration and hematogenous metastasis of gastric cancer.
