摘要
作为西方近代政治思想史上著名的政治思想家，霍布斯运用自然法与社会契约理论全面论述了人与国家的关系这一西方传统政治研究的主题。表面看来，提出君主专制主张的霍布斯的政治思想与自由主义是格格不入的，但实际上他对自由的理解、个人主义的内涵、国家的必要性以及对个人自由的阐述对近代自由主义产生了深远影响，在一定程度上奠定了西方自由主义的基础。
As a well-known political thinker in modem Western politics and ideology, with natural law and social contract theory Hobbes comprehensively discusses the theme of Western tradition of political studies--the relationship between people and country. On the surface, monarchy advocated by Hobbes is totally incompatible with liberalism, while actually his interpretation of freedom, connotation of individualism, necessity of countries and individual freedom had a profound impact on liberalism, to some extent, laid the foundation of Western liberalism.
