摘要
利用产品相似性指数、区域显示性比较优势指数,对日美高技术产品在中国市场的竞争关系进行实证分析,主要结论为:日美两国高技术产品在中国市场上的竞争程度较低;日本该类产品的竞争力强于美国。其原因在于中日经贸关系更为紧密以及美国对华出口高技术产品的限制。这为中国发展高技术产品提供了机遇:企业通过走产品差异化路线来避开日美的竞争,并以某些产品为突破口建立起竞争优势;而政府也要进行适度的保护和补贴。
The paper empirically analyzes US - Japanese competition in high - tech products in Chinese mar- ket by employing the export product similarity index and the regional revealed comparative advantage index. The results show that the degree of the competition is moderate and the Japanese products are more competi- tive. Possible explanations include that 1 ) Sino - Japanese trade has been more closely related, and 2) United states restrictions on the exports of high - tech products to China. I argue that Chinese national high - tech enterprises can avoid the direct competition with the Japanese or American products by adopting a strategy of differentiation, which aims to develop comparative advantage in a niche market. Meanwhile, appropriate protection and subsidies from Chinese government are also necessary.
