摘要
人们经历了从保护文物，保护历史建筑到保护历史城镇的漫长过程，这是人们认识的重大进步。历史遗存是不可再 生的，保护它们就是保护民族和祖国的文化。我国的保护工作与先进国家相比存在着较大的差距，任重而道远。
People begin to realize the importance of conservation of historical cities. This means that a public concern has been aroused. Historical heritage can't be regenerated. It reflects the culture of a nation. In order to conserve the identity of our nation and improve our work of conservation, we should learn from the experience of the developed countries.
