Taking 280 higher vocational school students as the sample, the study investigated the balance between receiving and providing support using relative questionnaires, and the results revealed that higher vocational school students' receiving and providing support was unbalanced (providing support was much more than receiving support), and both the types of personal relationship and the types of social support differed significantly on the balance, which shows that social relationship and support type are influencing factors of balance; additionally, the gratitude and indebtedness significantly impacted the influence of receiving support on providing support, and the cost also significantly impacted the influence of providing support on receiving support. These findings suggest that we should provide more support to higher vocational school students according to the characteristics of their social support and demands.
