摘要
华莱士·史蒂文斯是美国20世纪意象派诗人。在20世纪20年代的美国,传统的价值观逐渐丧失了主导地位,宗教信仰受到了动摇。由于经济、文化等各方面的原因,美国的知识分子比较开阔的视野令他们对世界各国文化产生了好奇及汲取的心态。中国文化在很大程度上吸引了美国诗人,其中就有华莱士·史蒂文斯。在一个丧失信仰、混乱无序的年代,史蒂文斯极力寻找新的秩序,寻找新的信仰和另一种对世界的感知方式。在大量的信件和诗歌中,史蒂文斯都表现了他对中国文化浓厚的兴趣。本文以史蒂文斯的《雪人》为例,分析它如何体现中国山水画"天人合一"的元素,如何体现中国哲学思想,特别是道家"物自性"、"虚无"和禅之冥想的思想精华。
Wallace Stevens is an American imagist in the twentieth century.At that time,American traditional values and religious beliefs confronted a serious crisis.For various reasons,American intellectuals found themselves equipped with a mindset of curiosity and a broad view of the cultures around the globe.Chinese culture,to a large extent,appealed to American poets including Wallace Stevens.In the world of disorder,Stevens pondered anew the perceptions towards the world.In a large number of letters and poems,Stevens manifests his enthusiasm for Chinese culture.This thesis takes Stevens’The Snow Man as an example to analyze the essence of Chinese＂Dao＂in natural evolvement,nothingness,and meditation as well as the element of reconciliation in Chinese landscape painting.
