Polymer based conducting materials are specially designed polymeric conductors with a thermo sensitive switch characteristic. They are widely used in to protect elements and heating elements. Latest achievements made in the past dozen years in basic research, processing & manufacturing technology and application development of polymer based PTC conducting materials are reviewed. The development prospect of polymer based PTC materials is also described.
