The occurrence and progress of laryngeal neoplasms are regulated by many genes, signal transducers and activators of transcription 3(STAT3)and VEGF plays important roles in the occurrence, progress, metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal neoplasms.STAT3 is activated by extracellular ligands, including cytokines and growth factors. It can translocate to nucleus, where it binds to specific DNA sequences and regulates the transcription of target genes, and promotes the proliferation and inhibits apoptosis of tumor cells.Tumor growth relies on angiogenesis,VEGF plays an important role in angiogenesis as a positive regulatory factor. So some studies about the STAT3 and VEGF are carried out to establish foundation for genesis mechanism of human laryngeal cancer.
