摘要
本文从历史语境的角度出发,对陈望道翻译的《共产党宣言》的部分段落进行了解读,分析了该译作与其产生的历史背景之间的交互影响。该译文的几个值得关注的地方分别是:新文化运动对译文文风的影响、译者日后修辞学家的身份在译文中的反映、日语译本对该译文的影响。从对该译文的细读中可见,影响译文语言运作的既有特定历史时期的外因制约,也有译者特定的主体性方面的内因介入。
This paper offers a close reading of Chen Wangdao's translation of The Manifesto of Communist Party from a historical perspective,analyzing the way his translation and its cultural context interacted with and impacted on each other.The contextual factors examined include the New Culture Movement that swept across China in early 20th century,the identity as a rhetorician which Chen Wangdao assumed later,as well as the availability of Japanese translations of the same text.The reading and analysis direct attention to the constraints imposed by specific historical and personalsubjective factors on the way Chen's translation was linguistically executed.
