摘要
本文通过对Lakoff和Johnson的隐喻理论社会性的探讨,参照Halliday的语言三大元功能,把隐喻的功能抽象于三种:语篇、概念和人际功能。Halliday从语言运用来分析社会现状;隐喻从反映现实的价值观和概念思维来分析语言运作的机制,并统领着语言的功能。通过具体的话语分析的例证,本文试图说明人类认知的过程实为社会化的过程。隐喻为话语分析提供了一个全新的视角。
This paper first tries to interpret the social nature of Lakoff and Johnson's ideas of metaphor in light of Halliday's identification of the three metafunctions of language and then attempts to abstract the function of metaphor as textual,ideational and interpersonal. Halliday endeavors to understand society via analysis of language use and this paper will show that the metaphors in discourse may help us understand the mechanism of text production and interpretation from the perspective of values and conceptual thoughts which reflect the reality and that metaphor commands the function of language. With some examples,the paper will also attempt to show that one's cognitive ability is in nature the result of socialization and that metaphor offers a new perspective for discourse analysis.
