GROWTH OF LITHIUM TRIBORATE SINGLE GRYSTALS BY FLUX SEEDING METHOD

摘要 一、引言 三硼酸锂晶体(LiB_3O_5,简称LBO)属正交晶系,空间群为P2_1cn,晶胞参数a=5、141(6)(?),b=7.378(4)(?),c=8.446(3)(?),z=4,密度为2.48g/cm^3,Moh′S硬度约为6。它是我所继发现β-BaB_2O_4晶体(BBO)之后。 The plate-shape lithium triborate single crystals with a dimension of 38×24×4 mm have been grown by the flux seeding method, using a self-flux B_2O_3 of composition LiB_3O_5:B_2O_3=2:1 (mol) at a constant temperature for a long time and then cooled very slowly. Though the self-flux has the advantage of avoiding contamination to the crystal, the viscosity of the solution is so high that it is very difficult to increase the growth rate for large crystals. Therefore, efforts have been achieved in this respect. Finally, a large crystal up to 37×25×13 mm of superior quality has been grown using this new flux.
