Objective To study the effects of solvents (acetone, ethyl acetate, 95% alcohol and 1% HF)treatment on bond strength of porcelain with titanium. Methods A shear test was used in the experiment. Results The shear bond strength of porcelain with pure titanium after the treatments in acetone, ethyl acetate, 95% alcohol and 1% HF were 53.29MPa 52.54MPa, 50.69MPa and 21.18MPa respectively, and it was 26.75MPa for the control group. After the treatment in acetone, ethyl acetate, 95% alcohol and 1% HF before firing of porcelain with Ti 75 alloy, the shear bond strength were 57.80MPa, 55.75MPa,55.62MPa and 25.98MPa respectively, and it was 28 34MPa for the control group. This indicated that the shear bond strength of porcelain titanium was reinforced by treating the surface of pure titanium and Ti 75 alloy in acetone, ethyl acetate, 95% alcohol, and it was not in 1%HF.Conclusion Acetone, ethyl acetate and 95% alcohol can be used for treatmental agents of titanium materials before firing of the porcelain.
